Les Miserables: The Sepulchral Parlor

Hugo compares the dark and dreary parlor of the convent to a sepulcher and points out that the level of austerity exceeded any other convent or order. The thing is I think he’s already made this point multiple times in this section. Another chapter we probably don’t need here.

I don’t want to make it sound like I don’t enjoy the book; I do, even these digressional chapters. I just don’t feel like they are adding much of anything at this point.
